Montserrat & Cava
This monestery is dating back to the 11th centry, and is still a working monastery with almost 100 monks and even a boys school. The location of this place is no less that spectacular! I will also take you to a small family owned winery where you can see how those sparkling bubbles from cava are made.

Did you know that you need about 1 kilo / 2,2 pounds of grapes to make 1 bottle of wine?
Did you know that the vintages 1978, 1983, 2000, 2006, 2007 and 2008 are considered as exceptionally good vintages for Cava? So if you see any of these, take the opportunity to try one.
Did you know that you can make white wine from red and blue grapes?
Did you know that more than 90% of all wine produced world wide is made to taste its best right away. Less than 10% is made to taste better after 5 years. Less than 1% is made to taste better after 10 years.

Did you know that wine aged in oak barrels often have an aroma of vanilla and coconut? The newer the barrels, the more flavor it will give to the wine. Many Spanish wines are aged in oak barrels.

Highly recommend this tour
I arrived early morning in Barcelona from an overnight flight from the States. I was met by a very cheery guide who brought me to her nice and new SUV with a lot of space for my luggage. I couldn't think of a better way to leave the airport and set off to see the two wineries I had booked. Since I traveled alone, it was great to meet a Helene that really made me feel like I was her friend. I could only say good things about this tour, and the perfect way to start in Barcelona!

Loved it!
We were 8 people who went to Barcelona to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday. We wanted to do something special, so we decided to go on a wine trip. I had been recommended Wine Tours Barcelona by a colleague, so we contacted Helene who then set up a plan for us. Thanks to Wine Tours Barcelona and our guide Helene who was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. My wife and I had a wonderful tour out to a small and charming winery where we could pare wine with cheese. Fun experience, just wish they could serve some more cheese. I love cheese!
